New Bus Services Announced by LTA/PTOs (Part 2) replied by array88 @ Tue, 07 Jun 2016 21:50:06 +0800

Anyway, it's good for SBS Transit and SMRT to lose bus routes in the current model because the current model cannot make profits without the help of advertising and rental - especially SBS Transit since they own a larger share of the bus routes.

Don't forget majority of our train operations are by SMRT.

Technically they didn't even lose Yishun... It's not stated as one of the interchanges that fall under Seletar.

no worries sbst and SMRT will run trains service and maybe some express bus services and maybe NUS and NTU internal service. but i think 2018 might be SBST get it. As SMRT, LTA want it to focus on the train service. so not surprise if the whole singapore train operation under SMRT by 2020 plus.

Like 117, will be a waste of resources for next 2 years.

46 will have some loading between Tampines Int and Ave 5 / St 83, but not so much that will require majority DDs... 291 can do the job.

For that matter, Hong Kong and Taiwan companies, since our Mr Khaw Boon Wan speaks highly of them.

I do not know why Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Taiwan bus companies never come Singapore contest for contracts before, but if they do contest, I hope they will win, so that there's more competition. :)

Bus bidding is not a playground or an international tournament.

What Malaysian, Indonesian or Taiwanese companies do you propose bid to run our services, in a way that would (seemingly) improve our service levels? They (including failed Chinese and Korean companies) don't have much experience in running public buses on a big scale in super high density areas like London.

If Hong Kong companies like KMB or NWST were interested, they would have bid already. So I think its pure fantasy they would come in despite having the experience, unless of course they change their mind.

Maybe they forget to stated..Anyway they already lose majority of Yishun service despite still hanging on svc like 171,853,854\E,855,856 & 857.10 service is already for biddings:800,803,804,805,806,811,812,851 & 852 and this 850E which i assume will amend to start from Yishun too.

None of the operators from these countries are interested for a simple reason.

In all cases, they manage the fare revenue directly.

And they are not experts at filling out the tender paperwork, either.

One of the reasons why TT has won is because they have been doing that for over 20 years under Transperth's GCM.
